With school holidays here, families around North Lakes have plenty of parks and playgrounds to explore, from scenic lakefront settings to fun, activity-packed green spaces. Whether you’re looking for playgrounds for adventurous climbers, shaded picnic spots with BBQs, or open spaces where little ones can kick a ball safely, these local favourites are well worth a visit.

North Lakes Town Park – Lakefield Drive, North Lakes (beside Lake Eden)

This sprawling, brightly coloured playground features slides, swings and climbing frames. There are shaded picnic tables and BBQs, so you can make a full day of it. You can also walk or scoot around the lake on the paved pathways, spotting ducks, water dragons and turtles along the way.

Aurora Boulevard Park – 22 Aurora Boulevard, North Lakes

Perfect for all the family, this park includes a large spiderweb climbing net, slide, swings, cubby house, rocker and more, with younger kids getting their own smaller playground. There’s a skate park too, and your four-legged friend will love the dog park. With concrete pathways weaving through the park, it’s a great place for a scoot, and there are shaded tables and BBQs so you can set yourself up for the day. Time your visit right and you might even catch a visiting food truck.

Richard Road Park – 270 Richard Road, Mango Hill

Just a short drive from North Lakes, this playground overlooks Capestone Lake and features flying foxes, swings, a rope tunnel and a sandpit. Covered picnic tables and BBQs are on site, and the lake views make it a serene spot to relax. Bring a coffee, pack a picnic and make an afternoon of it. With an enclosed off-leash dog park, it’s a great place for everyone to get some exercise.

The Mill Waterpark – 126 Anzac Avenue, Petrie

A favourite for kids of all ages, The Mill Waterpark features splash zones, water jets, water buckets and more. There’s plenty of shaded seating for parents, as well as picnic tables and BBQs, making it perfect for a full, free day out. Bring towels, sunscreen and snacks and let the little ones cool off and burn energy. The park even features LED light fountains for a choreographed water play experience, with an interactive light show at night.

With playgrounds to climb, lakes to explore and plenty of spots to picnic, these parks make getting outside these school holidays easy. Pack some sandwiches, don’t forget the sunscreen and enjoy a relaxed day of family fun close to home.
