School Holiday Fun

Families across the Moreton Bay region are in for a big April school holiday, with a line-up of events and activities happening right across libraries, museums and galleries. From creative workshops and interactive experiences to family-friendly days out, this year’s program offers plenty of ways to keep children engaged, entertained and inspired. 

Kids Dig It! Ancient Greece Family Fun 

Travel back in time these Easter school holidays at the Abbey Museum with Kids Dig It! Ancient Greece Family Fun. Running over four days, this hands-on program invites children aged 5–12 to explore the history, culture and arts of Ancient Greece through interactive activities. 

Young historians can try archery with the museum’s archery team, uncover artefacts in an archaeological dig, paint Greek-inspired pottery, create themed crafts and take part in games and workshops inside the museum. Families can choose from four structured activity groups, each offering a full schedule of sessions throughout the day.

Moon Landing Immersive Experience Multiple Locations 

Step inside the Cosmodome for an immersive full dome experience exploring what it took to send humans to the Moon. Capcom Go shares the true story of the risks, challenges and engineering achievements behind the historic mission. Presented by Starlab Education, this surround sound and imagery experience is part of the school holiday program. Suitable for ages eight and over. Free. Bookings are required, and both adults and children require tickets.

Style Studio: April School Holiday Program 

Visit Pine Rivers Heritage Museum these school holidays and explore Style Studio, a fashion-inspired creative space. Enjoy hands-on craft activities using fabrics and paper, from peg dolls to paper people, and add your design to the studio mood board or take it home. Visitors can also explore the exhibition Out on the Town for extra inspiration. Suitable for all ages. Free.

Express Yourself at Redcliffe and Caboolture Art Gallery 

Get creative these April school holidays with Express Yourself: Art Activity Pop Up by Vipoo Srivilasa at Redcliffe Art Gallery and Caboolture Regional Art Gallery. Drop in to enjoy hands-on art activities inspired by the QAGOMA Children’s Art Centre exhibition, encouraging visitors to explore emotions through collage, drawing and decorative paper creations. Suitable for all ages. Free. No bookings required.

Farmyard Fun Day at Redcliffe Museum 

Redcliffe Museum is bringing the country to town with a mobile petting zoo featuring calves, piglets, goats, sheep, ducks, bunnies and more. Visitors can meet and hold the animals, enjoy face painting, take home a balloon creation and grab a sausage sizzle. Suitable for all ages. Free. No bookings required.

Bilby and Friends with D’Aguilar Wildlife Multiple Locations 

Join the team from D’Aguilar Wildlife for an interactive wildlife encounter featuring some of Australia’s most fascinating native animals. Learn amazing facts, ask questions and discover the wonder of our unique wildlife, with the chance to see a rare bilby up close. Suitable for all ages. Free. Bookings required, with tickets needed for children only.

Kids Workshop: Paper Works with Bruce Reynolds 

This paper-based art workshop for children explores colour, pattern and composition using simple stamp making, stencilling and collage techniques. Led by artist Bruce Reynolds, the session encourages creativity and experimentation with both 2D and 3D approaches. Suitable for ages eight to 12. All materials provided. Bookings essential. Cost $10.

Make Your Own Bean Sprout Farm at Sandgate Library 

Children aged five to 12 years can learn how to grow their own bean sprouts in this practical school holiday workshop at Sandgate Library. Guided by sustainable design expert Roman Spur, participants will create a take-home sprouting jar using a mix of bean seeds and discover how easy it is to grow fresh produce at home. Free. Bookings required.
