The Sunshine Coast will be in full bloom this month as the Queensland Garden Show returns to celebrate all things green, growing and glorious.
Held from 11 to 13 July at the Nambour Showgrounds, the three-day event marks its 41st year with a new name, expanded experiences and the same grassroots charm that has made it a must-attend for plant lovers everywhere.
Event Manager Marion Beazley said the recent name change from ‘Expo’ to ‘Show’ better reflected the family-friendly, experience-driven event.
“Over the years, the event has transformed from a more traditional expo into a far more comprehensive and engaging experience for our visitors who can enjoy expert talks, live demonstrations and entertainment, family activities and interactive workshops,” Ms Beazley said.
“Our visitors look forward to spending a wonderful day out with the whole family, and with kids 15 and under entering free, it’s a great way to inspire the next generation of gardeners.”
Each year, the event welcomes more than 40,000 visitors to explore seven hectares of gardening inspiration, featuring 360 exhibitors and 55 nurseries selling up to 50,000 plants each day.
Workshops, Garden Talks, and Rooster Crowing
Among the highlights are presentations from some of Australia’s most respected gardening personalities, including Costa Georgiadis, Sophie Thomson, Jerry Coleby-Williams and Phil Dudman, who will deliver workshops and talks throughout the weekend.
Favourites like the Living Backyard, Giant Kitchen Garden and the Cook’s Garden Stage will also return. Local foodie Martin Duncan will again host the culinary stage, joined by celebrity chef Matt Golinski and a lineup of renowned chefs showcasing garden-to-plate cooking demonstrations.
“Having this calibre of speakers all in one place is what makes the Queensland Garden Show so special,” Ms Beazley said.
“It’s about connecting people directly with the knowledge and inspiration they need to take their gardening to the next level, whether you’re an experienced horticulturist, an avid backyard gardener or just dipping your toes into the world of compost, cuttings and colour.”
Also back is the Rooster Crowing Competition, which, according to Ms Beazley, was a huge success last year, “crowning what we believe was Australia’s first-ever rooster crowing champion.”
“This year, we expect the poultry component of the show to continue its growth, not just with entrants expected from far and wide for the Rooster Crowing Competition but also as backyard poultry continues to grow in popularity,” she said.
Online tickets are $26.50 for adults and $23.50 for pensioners, with children 15 and under free.
