Mueller College is gearing up for two big events this month: the return of the popular annual Mueller College Fete and its high school production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.
Mueller Fete
The school fete on 18 July will bring together rides, live entertainment and food stalls, with something to keep families and the wider community busy all day.
Head of College, Paul Valese, said the event continued to grow each year as a community-focused day.
“The goal is to create a fun and affordable day out for the wider community,” Mr Valese said. “This year, you can expect even more big show rides and entertainment than ever before.”
The fete will include a giant Ferris wheel, sideshow alley, an animal farm, show bags, face painting and fireworks, alongside food trucks and market stalls. Entertainment will feature main stage performances from Brisbane band Smashing Bumpkins and student band Mueller Worship, as well as a wildlife show, pony rides, a live auction and a chance for visitors to have a photo with Bluey.
Entry is free, with ride armbands available for pre-purchase online ($55) or on the day ($65).
Beauty and the Beast
More than 70 students from Years 7 to 12 are deep in rehearsals for the school’s 2026 production of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast: a full-scale musical complete with a live orchestra.
Director and Head of Arts, Simon Ratcliffe, said the production reflected the growth of the school’s performing arts program.
“Students need to be challenged as a means of extending their life skills,” Mr Ratcliffe said. “A full-length production with a live orchestra was our next step in musicals, and the Mueller community has really risen to the opportunities this has presented.”
Year 11 student, Charlotte Bird, will take on the role of Belle, the kind-hearted heroine at the centre of the story.
“The best part of being in the musical is that I really enjoy the culture, and it’s really exciting to come together as a family cast. This show’s cast is special because everyone is a perfect fit for their character,” Charlotte said.
Playing opposite Charlotte is Adam Moss as the Beast. Adam said the experience has allowed him to grow as a performer.
“I’ve been supported in all aspects of performing from vocal training and characterisation to being able to make the role my own,” Adam said.
“Performing is so much fun, as I enjoy being able to become any character and step into their world. My favourite roles are being the funny guy or the nice guy – playing the Beast allows me to do a bit of both!”
