Winter can be the perfect time to encourage teenagers to step away from screens and into something more active, social or hands-on. Across the North Lakes region, there are plenty of local options to keep teens engaged this season.

Local Sports and Recreation Centers

Revolution Sports Park: North Lakes

For those with energy to burn, Revolution Sports Park brings together trampolines, indoor rock climbing, a Ninja Warrior-style course and basketball dunk lanes under one roof. The air-conditioned venue makes it an easy winter option, particularly for older kids and teens looking for a physical challenge.

Deception Bay Skate Park and Pump Track: Deception Bay

A popular free option for teens who skate, scoot or ride, the Deception Bay Skate Park offers a mix of street-style features, ramps and banks for all skill levels. It’s a lively space for skateboarders, scooter riders, rollerbladers, and BMX riders, with cooler winter weather making it an ideal time to get outdoors.

Alongside the skate area is a pump track, a looping course for bikes and scooters that lets riders build speed through movement and flow rather than pedalling. The wider Deception Bay recreation precinct also includes open spaces, sporting facilities and outdoor fitness equipment, making it an easy spot for families to spend time.

The library is a relaxed space for teens, with programs covering science, technology, crafting and school holiday activities. A variety of one-off and regular events run throughout the year, making it a free and accessible option worth checking each term.

From indoor adventure parks and escape rooms to skate spaces and creative workshops, there are plenty of ways for teens across North Lakes and surrounds to spend less time on screens and more time connecting, creating and getting out into the community this winter.
