North Lakes’ The Jungle Adventure Play, known for family thrills, is now raising the stakes with adult-only events that transform its climbing walls, slides and 165-metre flying fox into an unexpected night out.
Once a month on a Friday night, the centre invites those aged over 18 to have some kid-free fun at The Jungle After Dark, with full access to activities plus a live DJ, glow sticks, and “sneaky bevs” available for purchase.
According to Lachlan Walker, The Jungle Adventure Play North Lakes business owner, the idea for the events was taken from community feedback as an opportunity to engage with the adult market without children around.
“After Dark Adult Nights simply provides a safe space for adults to bring out their inner child; given the location of The Jungle Adventure Play North Lakes, it is now seen as a community hub for healthy, fun, and engaging group activities,” he said.
The events are suggested as ideal date nights and team outings, emphasising the bonding aspect of adventure-type activities and the opportunity to “unleash your inner wild child”.
Adults Embrace Adventure Nights
“It’s an intended choice around healthier and more engaging social activities, away from what the norm used to be when catching up with friends to now engaging within environments that trigger higher emotion,” Mr Walker said.
He said attending guests so far had been a mix of themed groups of friends, date nights and social groups – as well as adrenaline and physical activity junkies.
“Ages range from 18 to our eldest attending guest so far at 67, catering for guests from Bundaberg and as far south as the Gold Coast,” he said.
Mr Walker said that to date, every event had sold out, related to a decision made early to limit attendance to 200 guests in order to “give everyone the feeling of quality over quantity”.
He said it had to be due to the sheer fun of it all, with the main attraction, Jungle Time, a mix of slides, treetop climbs, adventure trails, a freefall spider web and a playful foam ball pit with pressurised guns.
