The spirit and sound of 90s rock will roar back to life at a special tribute concert in North Lakes this month.

On Saturday, 16 May, Smells Like the 90s Live Rock Show will return to Thirsty Chiefs Brewing Company, with Moreton Bay band Blackstar delivering nostalgic grunge and rock classics.

Lead vocalist Jamie Maxfield said Smells Like the 90s was “like taking a journey back to when we were teenagers”.

“We bounce from Stone Temple Pilots and Pearl Jam through to the Chili Peppers, then crank it up with Rage (Against the Machine), The Living End and even a bit of Metallica,” Jamie said. “It’s loud, it’s sweaty, and by the end of the night, your voice will be gone whether you planned on singing or not.”

Crowd Favourites and Event Details

The three-hour concert also features hits from Silverchair, Nirvana and Soundgarden.

Bassist and vocalist Andrew Smith said, “We love the heavier, high-energy stuff because it just goes off live, but one of the biggest moments every night is when we drop into the Oasis classics.”

“It turns into a full crowd sing-along; half the time, we could probably just step back and let the room take over,” he said. “That’s when you know it’s working.”

The event is an 18+ event. Tickets start at $30 (excluding booking fee). Get your tickets here.
