Young tech enthusiasts, get ready to put your engineering skills to the test.
TryBots is a hands-on robotics workshop designed to introduce children and families to the world of coding, robotics and problem-solving through interactive activities and challenges.
Hosted as part of the North Lakes Library’s school holiday activities, TryBots aims to encourage creativity and critical thinking while giving young people an insight into future technology careers. From beginner coders to budding engineers, the session is expected to appeal to children of all skill levels.
“These sessions are an opportunity for families to try their hand at coding and discover how robots work with the help of our Blue-Bots, educational robots which are available to borrow from our libraries,” a City of Moreton Bay spokesperson said.
Participants will be able to play games with robots as the players, learn some basic coding with the Tech Trolley, create a maze and send their robot off on a challenge before settling in for story time (10.30-11am) with a special guest robot who will play the piano as part of an immersion for Make Music Month.
Families attending can expect a lively atmosphere filled with challenges and demonstrations as participants test their creations and learn how robots respond to coding instructions. The session will also provide an opportunity for children to meet others with similar interests and discover new hobbies in science and technology.
“Our TryBots sessions showcase that technology is fun to explore,” the spokesperson said. “It’s all about sparking curiosity and building digital literacy.”
TryBots is a free event facilitated by the library team.
