Kurwongbah State School is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, and the community is invited to join in the celebration in style.
The school’s biennial family fete will return on Saturday, 21 June, featuring a day of community spirit, family entertainment and plenty to keep everyone smiling from start to finish.
One of the fete coordinators, Ryan Watson, said the volunteer-run event was something the whole community could take pride in.
“This is a fun-filled, well-loved day that brings the community together and we’re open to everyone – families, friends and the wider community,” Ryan said. “We’re celebrating 40 years of Kurwongbah State School and we can’t wait to welcome everyone to the oval for a fantastic day.”
Open to the public, the fete will include a program of entertainment, food, and activities across the school grounds. Attendees are encouraged to pack a picnic rug, as the event will be held on the oval.
Fete Highlights and Community Impact
Rides by Jubilee will return with the most popular rides, and this year, dodgem cars will be included at the fete for the first time. There will also be a dunk tank, sponsored by Blac Property Group, where children have the chance to ‘dunk’ their favourite staff member.
Ride tickets cost $7 each, with unlimited ride wristbands available for $55 from the ticket booth.
In addition to the rides, participants can enjoy sideshow alley, raffles, a bar and food trucks. Stalls include a thrift shop, sweets and treats, plants, fairy floss, pick-a-box, face painting, arts and craft, and games such as darts, footy throw, putt putt, golf challenge, corn hole, and more.
Every dollar raised from the fete will go towards school improvements. Thanks to previous fetes, Kurwongbah State School has been able to install chilled bubblers, a new LED sign and air conditioning in the school hall.
The event is organised by a volunteer fete committee, the P&C Association and the wider school community.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the school has also invited past and present staff and students to contribute their favourite family recipe for a Kurwongbah State School cookbook.
