A weekend of fun, gaming and creativity will be on offer at the GhMX Gaming, Hobby and Model Expo at Brisbane Showgrounds this month.
The family-friendly expo will return on 21 and 22 November, with activities catering to all ages and abilities, including model building, tabletop and card gaming, cosplay, miniature painting, video gaming and more.
GhMX’s Giampaolo Maddaluno said attendees would step into a world of fully interactive and hands-on experiences.
“Our intention for the expo is to create an atmosphere of creativity and immersive activities where the term ‘please don’t touch’ is against the rules,” Giampaolo said. “You can build models, learn to paint miniatures, play with radio-controlled toys and even get one-on-one tutorials on tabletop and card games.
“It’s the ultimate weekend without a device, and it’s all included with your ticket.”
The expo will feature exhibitors, workshops, main-stage attractions, dedicated gaming and hobby zones, special guest panels and competitions.
Giampaolo said some of the major features would be the tournaments and competitions.
“We have our main scale model building competition with a showcase of hundreds of works by the best builders in Queensland, trading card tournaments including Magic: The Gathering, Pokémon and Lorcana, plus Cosplay X,” he said. “This is our very own cosplay championship where you will not only see some of the best cosplays in Brisbane, but you can also get advice and inspiration from our cosplay guests to build your own.”
Discover Gaming Zones, Competitions and Creative Inspiration
Visitors can also watch a speed build challenge live on stage, explore the Retro Gaming Zone and Board Game Zone, and see Bris Brix displays and the Medieval Battle Arena.
Tabletop and card gaming tournaments will be held, while visitors can also learn to play games including Dungeons & Dragons.
“Our intention is to provide our guests with opportunities to get inspired by bringing so many retailers and artists under one roof and getting hands-on,” Giampaolo said.
The expo will also provide an opportunity to find Christmas gifts for hobbyists, gamers and creative enthusiasts.
All ages are welcome to enter the SMS Scale Model Build Competition, but entrants must register beforehand.
