People requiring a strict gluten-free diet have a growing number of options when dining across Moreton Bay.

Several local venues cater to people with coeliac disease and food allergies, with some taking additional steps to minimise the risk of cross-contamination.

At Norths Leagues and Services Club in Kallangur, gluten-free options include pizza bases and mains such as crispy-skinned barramundi.

Head Chef Hoss said the club took the needs of guests with coeliac disease very seriously.

“We have a range of procedures in place to help minimise the risk of cross-contamination, including a dedicated fryer for gluten-free items, separate water for gluten-free pasta, separate preparation of vegetables where required, and clean utensils for every gluten-free meal,” Hoss said.

“Our kitchen and front of house teams are trained in coeliac disease awareness and safe food handling, and our menu clearly identifies gluten-free options.

“Having four separate kitchens also gives us greater flexibility to prepare or modify dishes while maintaining safe food preparation practices.

“While no commercial kitchen can guarantee a completely gluten-free environment, we do everything we can to reduce the risk and encourage guests with coeliac disease or severe allergies to let our team know when ordering so we can take every possible precaution.”

Gluten-Free Bakeries and Eateries Across Moreton Bay

For those looking for baked goods, All Sweet Things Bakery in Lawnton is a family-run bakery specialising in gluten-free, vegan and other allergen-free foods. Products are made on-site and include bread and buns, donuts, cupcakes, pies, pastries, quiches and sausage rolls.

Gluten Free Bakery in Narangba is another family business specialising in gluten-free products. Owners Rob and Gwen started the business more than 25 years ago after identifying a need for quality gluten-free food, with products including bread, cakes, cheesecakes, danishes, lamingtons, muffins, pies, sausage rolls and pizzas.

At Deception Bay, Mr Jeebus on Mariner Boulevard states that burgers ordered on a gluten-free bun are coeliac-friendly, while its chips, chicken tenders, poutine and most drinks are also suitable.

Basil and Vine at Burpengary Plaza offers gluten-free pasta and pizza bases, with coeliac requirements identified when boxes are labelled.

Raveels Curry House in Burpengary states that its curries and rice are gluten-free, along with most entrees.

Other local venues offering gluten-free options include Gather & Feast in Caboolture, Ruby Tuesday in Burpengary and Lisa’s Willow Tree Café at Caboolture South.

Eli’s Kitchen Moreton Bay operates a mobile food trailer at community events around the region, including Caboolture Showgrounds, Pine Rivers Park in Strathpine and The Mill Waterpark in Petrie. The business serves only gluten-free food, including hot chips, toasties, savoury and sweet slices, cookies, muffins and cupcakes, with products also available to order online.

People with coeliac disease or severe allergies should always discuss their dietary requirements with staff before ordering and check current preparation practices, as menus and procedures can change.
