Garden lovers can explore one of Queensland’s largest displays of bromeliads and tropical plants when the Bromeliad Society of Queensland brings its annual Spring Show and Sale to North Lakes for the first time.
Held on the weekend of 26-27 September, the event will feature more than 250 tables of potted plants, an 18-metre Tillandsia hanging wall, practical presentations and expert advice from experienced growers.
Club Librarian and Committee Member Coral McGregor said the event catered for gardeners of all experience levels.
“This show offers all levels to enjoy these plants,” Coral said. “Many are new to bromeliads and come away with new knowledge and the confidence to be able to care for their new additions to their gardens.”
Visitors can browse competitive specimen plants, speak with experienced growers and purchase bromeliads and tropical plants to suit a range of budgets.

Coral said bromeliads remained a popular choice for Queensland gardens because they were available in a wide range of shapes, sizes and colours, while also being easy to grow.
“Many tolerate full sun and others like a shady situation, so there are options for all spots in gardens,” she said. “Bromeliads are drought-tolerant and easy-care plants. There truly is a wide choice for everyone.”
Admission is $4, which includes entry to a lucky door prize.
