Families in North Lakes and the surrounding suburbs are spoilt for choice this summer holidays. From creative workshops and tech adventures at Moreton Bay libraries to festive celebrations and active play, there’s something for everyone.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said he encouraged families to explore the holiday programs.

“There is no shortage of exciting activities for youngsters to enjoy at City of Moreton Bay libraries during the school holidays,” he said. “With Christmas Eve Storytime, LEGO building, 3D printing, comedy puppet shows, terrarium classes and much, much more, there truly is something for everyone.

“I would encourage all local families to make the most of what our City’s wonderful libraries have to offer over the summer break.”

Get Creative at Your Local Library

Libraries across North Lakes are hosting a program of free workshops throughout December and January.

Budding chefs can make and decorate Air Fryer Christmas Cookies at North Lakes Library on 16 and 17 December and Deception Bay Library on 17 December. Young makers aged 12-17 can design festive decorations at the Cricut Christmas Bauble workshop on 19 December at North Lakes Library.

Tech fans can try virtual reality and experiment with robots at Digital Minefield on 5 January at North Lakes Library, or join the LEGO and Robots session at Strathpine Library on 12 January.

Festive Fun for the Whole Family

Enjoy a fun start to the holidays with a visit to Santa, Snags and Sno Cones at Encircle Pine Rivers Neighbourhood Centre in Lawnton.

On 16 December (10am-11.30am) and 17 December (1pm-2.30pm), families can enjoy free photos with Santa, sno cones, a sausage sizzle and festive cheer.

It’s also a chance to meet the Encircle team and learn about their community services.

The Healthy and Active Moreton program offers activities from pickleball and yoga to family mindfulness sessions.

Local attractions such as The Jungle Adventure Play, Event Cinemas North Lakes, Red Lock Escape Rooms, Revolution Sports Park and Osprey House Environmental Centre also promise fun for the whole family.
