If you’re looking for a heart-warming way to celebrate the festive season, Farm Animal Rescue’s annual A Piggy Christmas event is guaranteed to make you feel warm and fuzzy.

The much-loved Dayboro tradition, to be held on 7 December, invites visitors to take part in a special piggy Christmas lunch. All year, the pigs stick to their regular diet, but at Piggy Christmas, they get to go wild on fruit!

Brad King, founder of Farm Animal Rescue, said the day is a joyful occasion for their residents and visitors alike.

“Farm Animal Rescue is a sanctuary for animals that have been raised for the food industry,” Brad said.

“The sanctuary pigs have been designed to grow very quickly and very large to satisfy the growth requirements of the pig meat industry, so we feed diet portions throughout the year. Except at Piggy Christmas!

“At Piggy Christmas, we feed each pig a huge box of fruit and veg donated by visitors, and invite visitors to help the pigs with their favourite thing – belly rubs!”

Kids are invited to get involved and see the pigs enjoy their special feast.

Tours, BBQ, and How to Support the Sanctuary

Alongside the pig festivities, families can join a guided farm tour to meet other rescued animals, learn their stories and enjoy a delicious vegan barbecue.

All proceeds go towards providing a sanctuary for animals that have escaped the food industry.
