One of Australia’s most iconic rock bands, Rose Tattoo, is embarking on their highly anticipated Hard Road Australian tour this month.

The band will perform at the Kallangur Tavern on Saturday, 17 May, following the release of their latest single, Hard Road, earlier this year. Originally featured on Steve Wright’s debut solo album in 1974, it marks the band’s first new music release since 2008.

Frontman Angry Anderson said it was no secret that he was a big Stevie Wright fan.

“Hard Road is a cover of one of Australia’s songwriting singing heroes Stevie Wright and it’s poetically fitting for the band as we approach the end of our long hard road as Rose Tattoo,” he said.

Rose Tattoo’s debut album, released in late 1978, featured hits like Bad Boy for Love, Rock n’ Roll Outlaw and One of the Boys, which continue to strike a chord with fans today.

The Tour, the Fans, and the Final Curtain Call

Angry said the audience could expect “honesty in their songs and honesty in their performance” during this tour.

“We deliver it as pure as we can,” he said. “We are known as a live band more than a recording success so it’ll be hard, fast, intense, passionate and spontaneous. Our performance can go anywhere at any time during the set – we acknowledge no boundaries, we obey no rules!”

According to Angry, what he loves most about playing to the local, loyal crowd at venues like Kallangur Tavern is “the passion, the honesty, the intensity and the loyalty of the punters – our brothers and sisters”.

Reflecting on the longevity of their career, he said, “Some things should change, over time, through the necessity of progress, while some things should stay the same in essence. Rock and roll is one of those experiences that should always have what it had in the beginning.”

The Hard Road tour is also an opportunity for new fans to discover Rose Tattoo as they hit the stage, perhaps for their final tour.

“We hope that they feel the beginning of a new love affair that will be faithful,” Angry said. “We hope they go away with a song in their hearts and a smile on their face!”
