Spring has arrived, and with it comes the perfect opportunity to dust off your outdoor gear and plan your next adventure. Whether you’re dreaming of weekends at the beach, camping under the stars, hiking with friends, or simply enjoying a BBQ at a local park with the kids, now’s the time to get prepared and reconnect with the great outdoors.

The Great Outdoors of North Lakes

We’re lucky to have plenty of natural attractions around North Lakes. Lake Eden is a peaceful spot for a gentle stroll, a family picnic or a bit of birdwatching. A short drive away, Lake Samsonvale offers scenic lakeside trails for relaxed outings such as fishing and picnics, or more adventurous activities like mountain biking and sailing.

D’Aguilar National Park and the Glass House Mountains provide bushwalking tracks for all fitness levels, from short scenic lookouts to full-day hikes. A little further afield, Bribie Island National Park is ideal for coastal adventures, with 4WD tracks, paperbark forests and quiet beaches to explore. Other nearby gems include Clear Mountain Conservation Park and Freshwater National Park – both perfect for peaceful walks, wildlife spotting and photography.

Planning a camping trip? Coochin Creek and Neurum Creek are excellent options where you can set up camp and enjoy bushwalking, kayaking or fishing in beautiful surroundings. Don’t forget to book campsites ahead of time.

Before you head off, use this quick gear checklist to avoid surprises:

  • Is your tent waterproof and free from damage?
  • Is your gas cylinder full and working?
  • Are your hiking shoes in good condition?
  • Is your rucksack free from holes and tears?
  • Do you have spare batteries or a charged power bank for torches?
  • Is your first aid kit fully stocked with essentials?
  • Have you packed:
  • Sunscreen and insect repellent
  • Reusable water bottles
  • Snacks and non-perishable food
  • Hat
  • Offline maps or a GPS app

If you’re heading out on a longer trip or venturing off the beaten path, be sure to let someone know your plans and when to expect you back!
