Act 1 Theatre is turning back the clock this month with a Rock ‘n’ Roll Weekend celebrating decades of classic hits.

For one weekend only, the Strathpine theatre will roll back the seats to create a dance floor as its house band, The Actones, joined by guest performers, presents four sets of classic hits. Evening shows will be held on Friday, 28 August and Saturday, 29 August, followed by a matinee on Sunday, 30 August.

Act 1 Theatre President and member of The Actones, Andrew Munslow, said attendees could expect a great night of classic rock and roll.

“We’re harking back to the good old days of dance halls,” he said. “We have local rock n roll dance club members coming and some line dancers to get everyone moving! And we want everyone to dress in their favourite rock n roll style!”

The performances will feature 50 songs spanning the 1950s to the 1980s, with music ranging from Bill Haley to Billy Ray Cyrus.

“Nothing beats getting together with your friends, listening to music and having a dance,” Andrew said. “Music is good for the soul and we want you to put all your worries aside for the night and really enjoy yourself!”

To accommodate the dance floor, along with a limited number of tables and chairs, attendance will be capped at 60 people for each performance. Guests are invited to bring their own snacks.
