North Lakes has grown quickly and, like any growing suburb, it comes with its own set of unwritten rules. For those new to the area, here are a few tips and insights to help you settle in.
A Connected Community

A Strong Local Health Precinct
One of North Lakes’ strengths is its health precinct. Located at 9 Endeavour Boulevard, the North Lakes Health Precinct has grown into a major medical hub for the region, offering far more than many newcomers expect.

A Wetlands Walk Worth Finding
While Lake Eden gets the attention, just beyond the busier paths sits Melaleuca Lakes and Parklands on Sandpiper Avenue, a quieter nature reserve with walking tracks winding through bushland.
Long-term residents often head there when they want fresh air without the crowds. It’s one of those places many people discover only after living in North Lakes for a while.
Westfield North Lakes Parking Tips
The Westfield Plus app offers an extra hour of free parking, making it worth downloading.
Timing also matters. If you enter the centre after 5.30pm, parking is free. Arrive just before 5.30pm and stay for more than four hours; however, parking charges still apply.
Be Aware of School Hours
Traffic patterns shift around school drop-off and pick-up times. With North Lakes State College, The Lakes College, Bounty Boulevard State School and nearby St Benedict’s College all operating on slightly different schedules, certain streets become congested in short bursts.
Learning when schools start and finish can make everyday travel much easier.
Roundabouts Influence Travel Time
Getting across North Lakes often takes longer than expected. The suburb is full of roundabouts and while they help keep traffic moving, they can also slow journeys down. A trip that looks like five minutes on the map can easily take three times as long in reality.
If you’re moving to the area, test your commute at peak times and count how many roundabouts sit between home and work.
North Lakes continues to grow and change, bringing both challenges and opportunities. Yet despite its rapid growth, it remains an easy place to settle into, with plenty of green space and a strong sense of community.
