Ready to get active this summer without breaking the bank? The Healthy and Active Moreton and Active Holidays programs provide a diverse range of free and low-cost opportunities for residents to try something new, meet new people and enjoy Moreton Bay’s beautiful scenery.

Mayor Peter Flannery said that these healthy and active lifestyle programs aligned with the Council’s commitment to enhancing the lifestyle of residents by providing free and low-cost sport, recreation, fitness and wellness activities and workshops.

“City of Moreton Bay’s Healthy and Active Moreton and Active Holidays programs provide opportunities for residents to get active outside in our beautiful parks and open spaces,” Mayor Flannery said.

“We want to lower the barriers to participation, providing accessible activities for everybody, regardless of age, mobility, finances and fitness level.

“Our outdoor activities promote being healthy and active while enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. The benefits of exercising outdoors go beyond physical fitness. Being outside is good for your mental wellbeing and helps build a stronger sense of community.”

Healthy and Active Moreton: Keeping the Community Fit and Healthy

These healthy and active lifestyles programs offer over 100 activities weekly, including popular outdoor options like boot camps, group fitness, yoga, Pilates and stand-up paddleboarding. For those who prefer low-impact activities, chair yoga, tai chi, meditation and mindfulness sessions are also available – all set against the stunning natural backdrop of Moreton Bay. There is something on offer for everyone and it’s the perfect opportunity to explore a new interest, learn a new skill or get started with a new hobby.

Cherie Clark from Live Life Yoga is one of the Healthy and Active Moreton providers.

“Keeping fit and staying healthy sometimes feels like a mountain to climb but with Healthy and Active Moreton, it’s achievable and, more importantly, inexpensive,” Cherie said. “Plus it’s a great opportunity to meet new people and just have fun!”

Whether you’re a fitness enthusiast, just getting started, or you’re looking to meet some new people in the local community, these activities can support you on your journey to a healthier and more active lifestyle.

The Healthy and Active Moreton program finishes on 9 December and restarts on 27 January.
