The Courageous Girls Club in North Lakes is a transformative program designed to help girls build confidence, resilience and meaningful friendships.

Catering to girls from years one to six, it provides a nurturing space where they can develop life skills in a supportive environment while having plenty of fun along the way.

Founder Samantha Bell said she was passionate about making a meaningful impact in the lives of young girls as they navigated today’s complex world.

“Every term at the Courageous Girls Club, we focus on core topics from different angles,” Samantha said.

“We might discuss what makes a good friend or how to be a good friend to others. Everything we do adds to their toolkit, helping them develop skills to thrive. We also introduce them to new experiences and inspirational people through guest speakers and workshops.

“Resilience comes from failure. It never feels good when you’re in the middle of it, but it’s part of learning. Our kids don’t have the freedom we had – our schedules are packed so there isn’t much free time and there are limited opportunities for taking safe risks. Kids have lost opportunities to learn how to be street smart.”

Building Resilience in a Digital World

Each term, the club runs engaging activities, games and discussions designed to boost self-esteem and enhance communication skills. Guest speakers encourage the girls to embrace their uniqueness and face challenges with confidence.

In today’s digital world, with increased screen time and social media pressures, many girls may be struggling with social skills, anxiety and mental health.

“We need to be aware of how we, as parents, use screens because our kids are always watching,” Samantha said. “They just want more time with us – putting our phones down and being present is so important.

“They also see how we act. They’re watching us and learning all the time. We need to model the behaviour we want and be a positive role model.”

Whether your daughter wants to build new friendships, strengthen her communication skills, be inspired by positive mentors, or develop a stronger sense of self, the Courageous Girls Club offers a welcoming and supportive space where she can truly shine.
