Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family can make. Here in North Lakes, The Lakes College offers a unique combination of academic excellence, innovation in learning, and a nurturing Christian community. Catering to students from Prep through to Year 12, this co-educational independent school equips young people with the skills, knowledge, and character to thrive as confident and compassionate global citizens.

Located in the heart of the fast-growing North Lakes area, the College is a vibrant, dynamic campus where students flourish academically, socially, and spiritually. With a current enrolment of approximately 1,150 students, The Lakes College continues to grow while remaining committed to providing personalised education that recognises and nurtures individual talents.

Excellence in Education and Learning

At The Lakes College, education goes beyond textbooks and exams. The College promotes a holistic approach to learning, helping students develop critical thinking, creativity, and practical skills alongside traditional academic knowledge. Small class sizes, highly qualified teachers, and a well-rounded curriculum ensure that every child is challenged appropriately and supported to reach their full potential.

The College has developed five “Lakes Learner” capabilities that shape every aspect of student learning: Faith, Knowledge, Curiosity, Character, and Connection. These capabilities are integrated into all areas of the curriculum from Prep to Year 12, providing students with a strong foundation to develop resilience, independence, and a sense of purpose. Students are encouraged to explore their interests, engage in inquiry-based learning, and embrace challenges with confidence.

The College also emphasises values such as responsibility, discipline, and integrity, helping students not only succeed academically but also grow as thoughtful, ethical individuals. The emphasis on character development ensures students leave The Lakes College ready to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the wider world.

A Caring Christian Community

As a ministry of the Uniting Church, The Lakes College provides a supportive Christian environment where students can explore their faith, develop moral and ethical understanding, and experience the benefits of belonging to a close-knit community. Daily devotions, weekly Chapel services, and fortnightly Religious Education lessons help students reflect on values such as compassion, honesty, and service.

The College also encourages students to put faith into action. Opportunities for service projects, community engagement, and social initiatives allow students to develop empathy and leadership skills while making a positive difference in the lives of others. In 2025, the College launched its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), highlighting its commitment to building meaningful relationships with First Nations peoples, celebrating cultural diversity, and fostering respect and understanding across the community.

Alongside spiritual development, student wellbeing is a priority. The College provides a dedicated Counsellor and a comprehensive wellbeing program from Prep to Year 12. These programs support students in navigating academic pressures, social challenges, and personal development, ensuring they feel confident, supported, and connected throughout their school journey.

State-of-the-Art Facilities

The Lakes College campus is designed to support modern, innovative learning experiences. Recent developments as part of the College’s 2025–2030 Master Plan include new playgrounds for Primary students, a Stage 2 Multi-Purpose Hall for performing arts and gym activities, and upgrades to science and learning spaces.

The Aquatic Precinct, developed in stages from 2022, features an 8-lane 25m heated pool with ramp access. Stage 2 of this precinct, completed in 2024, includes an indoor 20m learn to swim pool, shaded spectator grandstand for 500, and additional amenities.

The Multi-Purpose Hall, designed with community and school use in mind, caters to a variety of sports including basketball, volleyball, netball, futsal, and badminton. Its Stage 2 expansion, due to be completed in early 2026, will also enhance the performing arts program with music classrooms, a band room, a recording studio, and a dedicated dance and drama studio. This facility allows students to explore creative talents, engage in ensemble performances, and develop confidence in public presentation.

For families considering The Lakes College, there are multiple ways to experience school life before enrolling. Small group tours are hosted monthly on normal school days, giving prospective families the opportunity to see classrooms in action, meet teachers, and explore the campus firsthand. For those unable to attend in person, virtual tours provide a 360-degree view of classrooms, learning spaces, and the expansive grounds, along with drone footage to showcase the school’s facilities.

The College also hosts annual Open Days, including a Saturday Open Day in March and a Twilight Open event in October, which provide a full immersion into life at The Lakes College. These events allow families to observe lessons, engage with staff, and get a true sense of the College’s community spirit and learning culture.

Enrolments are accepted year-round, although some year levels, particularly Prep and Year 7, have waiting pools. Families are encouraged to contact the Enrolments Office at 07 3491 5555 to discuss availability and the enrolment process.
