North Lakes and its surrounding suburbs are thriving, family-friendly areas that offer a variety of after-school activities to keep kids entertained.
Here are six ways to enjoy a fun-filled afternoon together.
Visit a Playground
North Lakes and the nearby suburbs boast numerous playgrounds perfect for burning off excess energy after school. One standout is Town Park Playground at Lake Eden.
Evangeline Bleakley, 11, loves the playground which opened in 2023.
“I love the climbing tower and the twisty, yellow tunnel slide,” Evangeline said.
“I also love the spiderweb net at Aurora Boulevard Park, the flying fox at Capestone Lake and the wooden Harry Potter park (Bray Farm Park) at Griffin.”
Go for a Scooter or Bike Ride
The region also has lots of well-maintained bike paths that are ideal for safe scooting or biking, no matter the age or skill level of your child.
Pack a rucksack with snacks so you can pause for afternoon tea as you explore.
Visit the Cinema
For a more relaxed option, Event Cinemas North Lakes is a great place to catch the latest family-friendly flick. It’s a perfect way to unwind after a busy day (for you and the kids!)
Go to the Library
There is a packed program of activities at your local library, from gaming meetups to craft workshops. It’s a safe space for kids to learn, explore and connect with one another.
Visit an Indoor Play Centre
Indoor play centres like Chipmunks (Flinders Parade, North Lakes) and Crocs (Burke Crescent, North Lakes) offer a fun space for energetic kids. With climbing structures and slides, it’s so much fun. Older kids will love bouncing on the trampolines or scaling the climbing walls at Revolution.
Go Fishing
Pack up your fishing gear and head to Dohles Rocks in Griffin or Captain Cook Parade in Deception Bay. An afternoon by the water is a calming way to wind down after a busy day.
After School Fun
There is always something fun to do in and around North Lake to keep the kids engaged and entertained. With so many activities to choose from, afternoons around North Lakes are guaranteed to be filled with fun, adventure and memorable moments.
