As the summer draws to a close, it’s the perfect time for families to make the most of the warm weather at City of Moreton Bay’s The Mill Water Park and Play Space.
Located on Moreton Parade in Petrie, The Mill is an ideal spot to create lasting memories, whether you’re soaking up the final days of summer or enjoying the great outdoors year-round.
Year-Round Fun for the Whole Family
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the free Mill water park and adventure playground was the ultimate family destination to beat the summer heat.
“Families from all over the City and beyond flock to The Mill splash park and playground to cool off on hot summer days,” he said.
“The waterplay area features interactive fountains, shallow splash zones and a fun water bucket splash pad, plus the park also has LED light fountains for a choreographed water play experience and an interactive light show at night.”
The Mill is not just for the summer months, it’s a year-round family destination, offering plenty of activities to enjoy no matter the season.
“There are also two playgrounds catering for younger and older children with plenty to do, including a 24-metre flying fox, an eight-metre climbing tower, a large cricket pitch and green space and sheltered barbecue area,” Mayor Flannery said.
“In a nod to the history of the site, the adventure tower echoes the main industrial structure of the Petrie paper mill, which used to occupy the area and features many climbing challenges.
“We’ve also made sure there are accessible pathways throughout to ensure people of all abilities can join in the fun.”
The Mill is an award-winning space, with the water park and playground taking out a major prize at the 2021 IPWEAQ Excellence Awards for their unique design and location.
For added sun protection, parts of the playground are undergoing upgrades, with additional shade structures in the flying fox and adventure play swing areas being installed.
“City of Moreton Bay is dedicated to making our playgrounds fun and enjoyable, giving kids a perfect place to enjoy the beautiful outdoors in Moreton Bay,” Mayor Flannery said.
Don’t forget your sunscreen and swimwear and head to The Mill for one last splash before summer fades away.
