If you like to be kept guessing and mysteries are right up your alley, ACT1 Theatre’s next offering, Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb, is the perfect show for you!

Directed by Terry Frawley, Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb is the third instalment in the Tomb trilogy and features an outstanding lineup of talent, some of whom have acted in all instalments of the show.

Prepare To Meet Thy Tomb follows Tomb With A View and Tiptoe Through The Tombstones, completing the trilogy by Norman Robbins. The three plays focus on the Tomb family, who play together and slay together in the melodious Monument House.

For director Terry Frawley, the opportunity to be on stage gives him (and also through the cast) the chance to tell a story, to become someone else for a few hours of fun and nonsense, and to make people happy.

“Our audiences can expect to be confused and will be kept guessing about who kills whom and where and how – of the 10 characters only one survives,” Terry said.

“The first show for the last two years have been the earlier Tombs, so it will be rewarding to finish the trilogy. I was lucky enough to have played the evil solicitor Penworthy in the first Tomb and have found the suspense and sheer stupidity of this crazy family intriguing.

“As director only this time, I have even more time to try to have the cast get the comedic timing and bring the story to life – or is that death? When everything comes together, it is a relief and a disappointment that it is over.”

The Cast Brings the Tombs to Life

Putting a show like this together wouldn’t be possible without an amazing cast, including Tracey Simpson, who, having already starred in the first two instalments of the trilogy, said she couldn’t resist going back for the third show.

“My familiarity with the Tomb family and of the author’s writing style will help with developing my character so I can deliver a believable performance,” Tracey said. “Hecuba is undervalued by the family, hence a little bitter, so she is a fun character to play.”

Fellow actor Terry Fuller is also a cast member familiar with the Tomb family and said he couldn’t wait to get back on the stage.

“The flamboyance and demeanour of Quentin Dansworth drew me to the character and I was lucky enough to get that part,” he said. “I hope to create the character in a way that people in the audience would like to get to know, even party with. So, care to come and explore the dark mysteries of Monument House with me?”

For David Adams, it was time to saddle up for a new character in the trilogy.

“Having played Lucien Tomb and Augustus Tomb in Tomb With A View and Tiptoe Through the Tombstones in the first two of the trilogy, I’m really looking forward to playing a not-so-clever but arrogant Sir Beverley Comstock in the final edition of Prepare to Meet Thy Tomb,” he said.
