Nestled beside the scenic Pine River in Griffin, Osprey House Environmental Centre offers the opportunity to immerse yourself in nature while learning about sustainability and conservation.

This picturesque sanctuary allows you to get close to native wildlife, learn about the region’s ecosystem and be inspired by the interactive education centre.

City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said there was an incredible range of experiences available at Osprey House.

“It’s always special when you can observe City of Moreton Bay’s natural wonders and Osprey House is one of the best places to do it,” Mayor Flannery said. “It’s home to mangroves, bird hides and the nesting osprey pair, George and Hope. We’re lucky to have this all in our backyard.

“There’s never a bad time to visit Osprey House. The walking tracks and BBQ areas make it a great spot any day of the week. If you’re hoping to spot some nesting ospreys or even some babies, your best bet is during their breeding season from April to November.

“Our environment centres run a wide range of free workshops for our communities. Every month there’s something new to do and learn with our highly experienced staff. Keep an eye on our website for up-and-coming workshops that might catch your interest.”

Nature Walks, Wildlife, and Interactive Learning by the Pine River

Begin your visit at the Education Centre and enjoy interactive, hands-on learning about ospreys, mangroves and dugongs. Next, enjoy a stroll along the well-maintained walking tracks and boardwalks and enjoy the tranquil setting as you look for plants, birds and reptiles. Photographers will find endless opportunities to capture the beauty of the native flora and fauna.

Look out for the different nesting boxes scattered around the landscape. These provide safe spaces for animals like possums, gliders and bats. If you’re interested in marine life, the shoreline is a great place to look for more wildlife and marine creatures.

Don’t forget to bring your binoculars, along with sunscreen, a hat, water and comfortable walking shoes. You can also pack a picnic or BBQ so you can enjoy lunch in this special environment.

Osprey House Environmental Centre is open from 9am-3pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and 10am-3pm on Sunday. It is closed on public holidays.
