Ready for some splashing good fun?

The Lakes College (TLC) Aquatic Precinct is calling all baby (and big) sharks to join the fun of the grand opening of their brand new Learn to Swim facility at North Lakes this month.

With a brand-new heated indoor pool perfect for swimmers of all ages and abilities, get ready to dive in and make a splash!

Aquatics Manager Sue Mayo, a learn-to-swim specialist with more than 25 years of experience in aquatic education, will lead the development of the TLC Learn to Swim program.

Sue said she couldn’t wait to get started with lessons and make a difference in the lives of those learning to swim.

“Seeing this development come to life and soon being able to get in the water with swimmers is such an achievement,” Sue said. “I’m a strong believer in teaching those necessary skills in the water that you’ll take with you well beyond the swimming pool.”

As well as a 20-metre indoor heated learn-to-swim pool, Stage 2 of work will also include a shaded grandstand adjacent to the existing outdoor pool with seating capacity for 500 spectators.

Additionally, the new facility offers all-abilities access from the car park to both pools and amenities areas, ensuring that everyone, regardless of physical ability, can enjoy the aquatic facilities.

The Family Fun Day will see both pools open for swimming, some amazing prize giveaways, a yummy sausage sizzle and drinks, plus roaming mermaids and bubble-blowing.
