While the library may have a reputation of being a quiet retreat for book lovers, North Lakes Library is also a fun hangout space for teenagers looking to learn, create and connect. Whether you’re into science, tech, engineering or crafting, or you just love hanging out with friends, the library has something for everyone.
With regular clubs as well as special events and school holiday activities, there is always something fun to look forward to in the event calendar.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said he invited young people to make the most of the North Lakes Library’s new experiences, including activities focused on creativity, socialising and learning new skills.
“Our North Lakes Library is an accessible place for City of Moreton Bay residents of all ages,” he said.
“These activities, organised by our amazing library staff, are targeted specifically for local young people and we welcome them into this safe and inviting space.”
Highlights for teens and young adults include:
- LOUD at the Library, held on the third Friday of every month from 6pm to 8pm offering a relaxed environment where teens can connect, play video games and enjoy music. It’s a great opportunity to chill out and make new friends.
- The always popular Minecraft Club meets every Tuesday, allowing young gamers to collaborate on a library-run Minecraft server, whether in the library or playing from home.
- Quiet Hour runs every Wednesday from 5pm to 6pm where lighting is reduced, background music is turned off, phones and PCs are turned down and conversations are kept low (please note, all ages are welcome).
North Lakes Library: A Creative Hub for Teens

In addition to these regular activities, the library hosts a range of special teen/young adult events. Recent sessions include jewellery making, stop-motion animation and beat making, so keep an eye on the library’s event calendar to see what exciting activities are coming up.
North Lakes Library is a dynamic space where teenagers can socialise, explore new interests, follow their passions and express their creativity. To find out more about what’s on for teens and young adults at North Lakes Library, go to Moreton Bay QLD website.
