You snobs! You stupid, stuck-up, toffee-nosed, half-witted upper-class piles of pus!
Crass comments, lots of unwanted drama, sometimes controversial and laughs a minute, many will remember the funny television show Fawlty Towers, in particular, its leading man Basil Fawlty.
Starring John Cleese as Basil, along with his long-suffering wife Sybil and their loyal waiter Manuel, the British sitcom only ran for 12 episodes, but has left a long-lasting impression that echoes to this day.
An Interactive Fawlty Towers Dining Experience
Now, it has been brought to life in a famous dinner party format and you can join the fun at North Lakes Hotel this month. The Faulty Towers show and dinner is an unmissable highly interactive comedy spectacular, where audiences enjoy a three-course meal alongside five-star comedy.
North Lakes Hotel general manager Jeremy Kreft said it was a great night out for those who remember the highly entertaining TV show.
“The event promises to be a fun, interactive experience, where guests can enjoy a delicious meal while being entertained by actors portraying the iconic characters in an immersive performance full of comedy and surprises,” Jeremy said. “The actors serve most of the food on the evening and interact a lot with guests – it’s a comedy show first and foremost, with the food/service being the vehicle for all sorts of things to go wrong. We expect a very funny night.”
A loving tribute to the BBC’s classic TV series, the show has been seen by more than a million people worldwide since the very first show at the Rydges Hotel in Brisbane on 24 April 1997.
Show attendees are told to ‘expect the unexpected’ as they become diners in the ‘Faulty Towers’ restaurant where pretty much anything can happen. This is because 70% of the show is improvised, with all the fun kicking off as guests wait to be seated. Actors step into the roles of Basil, Sybil and Manuel, bringing you inside the TV series as they create mayhem and chaos while they move around the room.
If immersive comedy is right up your alley, get ready to laugh and be prepared for a dining experience where anything can and very likely will go wrong in all directions!
