Prepare for a ‘new sensation’ when Live Baby Live – The INXS Tribute Show makes its way to North Lakes this month.

Taking the stage at Thirsty Chiefs Brewing Company, the band will honour the original iconic rock legends with hits like Don’t Change, Need You Tonight and Never Tear Us Apart.

Lead singer Simon Kennedy, who performs as Michael Hutchence, said the audience could expect a meticulously accurate and respectful celebration of the music that soundtracked people’s lives.

“And hopefully a nostalgic hit that takes people back to a time when that little Australian band they used to see down at their local rose to international fame and took over the world,” Simon said.

He said his favourite song to perform was often tied to the response it got from the audience.

“Burn for You is always a crowd favourite, while having a venue full of people swaying arm in arm singing along to By My Side is always a special moment,” he said. “It’s very hard to top Never Tear Us Apart though and it’s often the crowning jewel to an evening’s show.”

Live Baby Live – A Tribute to INXS’s Legacy

Live Baby Live: The INXS Tribute Show

The tribute band has performed together for over a decade, beginning as a rock covers band on the NSW Central Coast. The stellar lineup includes Simon, Carlton Sparks as Tim Farriss, Craig McCaig as John Farriss, Josh Bowen as Kirk Pengilly, Justin Miranda as Garry Gary Beers, and Matt Porter and Mick Smith sharing the role of Andrew Farriss.

Simon said he came from a place of extreme admiration to fulfil the role of Michael Hutchence.

“While relentlessly studying INXS’s catalogue of music, videos, interviews and live performances (not the hardest of homework mind you) has helped shape my own depiction, I approach it from the mindset of paying respect and tribute rather than replicating and impersonating,” he said.

“It’s slowly hearing more and more stories of people’s own experiences with Michael they share with us at gigs that really helps in embodying the persona. He was truly such a loved, genuine, talented and special person.

“I find the story of an Australian band of brothers and mates who loved to create and play music together, taking that love and passion to a point that they at one point became the biggest band in the world to be particularly endearing.”
