North Lakes Library in Moreton Bay is more than a place to borrow books – it’s a community hub offering a variety of resources, events and activities for all ages and interests.
City of Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery said the North Lakes Library was more than just a building filled with books; it was the heart and soul of the local community.
“North Lakes Library is a shining example of what a modern library can offer residents,” Mayor Flannery said.
“It’s a vibrant hub where people of all ages, and importantly all abilities, can come together to learn, create, connect and explore.
“From educational workshops and cultural events to free digital resources and an engaging children’s space, North Lakes Library truly provides something for everyone.
“Not only is it centrally located near bus stops, schools and a major shopping centre, the North Lakes Library also boasts one of the biggest collections in Moreton Bay.”
A Community Hub for Learning, Events, and Activities
The library is a valuable community space that embraces new technologies, offers skills development and brings like-minded people together.
Families can enjoy sessions that promote early childhood literacy while providing entertainment for little ones and friendship opportunities for parents. Older people can learn new technologies in a safe environment.
There are regular interest groups for people who love to play board games or research their family history, and the library hosts regular workshops and events on topics like meditation, clay work and laughter yoga.
Young people can enjoy a packed program of digitally-focused activities including the Minecraft Club and LEGO Engineers Club. STEAM Station is for those aged 5 to 11 interested in science, tech and engineering, and LOUD is a place for teens to play computer games and hang out with friends.
