Pharus Wellbeing: Pioneering Mental Health Support Training

Daniel founded Pharus Wellbeing, an initiative that has made significant strides in mental health by providing comprehensive training and resources to Australian government education, defence and health agencies across Southern Queensland. Now offering a range of courses tailored to workplaces, sports clubs and community organisations, he is fostering a culture of empathy and support throughout Moreton Bay.

One of their key offerings is the Standard Mental Health First Aid course, which teaches participants how to provide initial support to individuals experiencing mental health crises. Another critical program, the Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) workshop, empowers people to recognise and help those at risk of suicide.

Numerous participants have attested to the course’s impact, noting that it provided them with a wealth of new skills and knowledge, enabling them to support others in a crisis and help themselves improve their own mental health. Participants feel well-equipped to assist others and take care of their own wellbeing.

Daniel’s approach to mental health education is practical, empathetic and impactful as he promotes a culture of continuous learning with refresher courses, ensuring that individuals are well-prepared to tackle mental health challenges.

“This shift is crucial in a world where mental health issues are increasingly prevalent,” Daniel said. “Empathy doesn’t have a script. It’s about listening, holding space and conveying the healing message that no one has to face their challenges alone. By offering empathy, understanding, and practical help, we can make a real difference in someone’s life.”

Daniel provides essential training and resources to create a supportive and empathetic work environment for businesses looking to address the growing mental health concerns among employees. These programs can enhance employee wellbeing, reduce absenteeism and foster a more productive and positive workplace culture.
