See the world of pure imagination bloom as Northpine Christian College brings the fabulous musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to glorious life!

This much-loved family favourite from Roald Dahl was chosen for its timeless appeal and ability to captivate audiences of all ages.

Cindy Sykes, drama teacher and stage director, said the vibrant characters and whimsical setting also provide a fantastic platform for the students to showcase their acting, singing, and dancing talents.

“Our production promises to be a visual and auditory treat, with elaborate sets, vibrant costumes and catchy musical numbers,” Mrs Sykes said.

“Audiences will experience a heartwarming tale filled with humour, excitement and emotional moments that highlight the importance of family, integrity, kindness and honesty.

“It inspires both young and old to dream big and stay true to their values, no matter the challenges they face.”

These powerful messages and the chance to grow are of real appeal to the young cast too.

Year 12 student, Tessa Parrish, who plays Willy Wonka, said she loved Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because it explored a key theme – not everything is what it seems.

“I believe this is a good lesson – to not judge a book or factory by its cover,” Tessa said.

“Having the opportunity to play Willy Wonka with his larger-than-life personality has been a transformative journey, helping with my on-stage confidence and encouraging me to push the boundaries of fun and craziness in his interactions with other characters.”

Year 7 student, Harlow Day, who plays Charlie Bucket, said he loved Charlie’s character.

“Charlie is humble, enthusiastic, kind, clever and has a great imagination, and I love the banter between Charlie and Willy Wonka,” Harlow said.

Other cast members include Findlay Meighan, Lachlann Green, Ella Thistleton, Annabella Green, Chastain Yu, Agolory Agolory, Tilly Day, Catherine Norman, Charlotte Gee, Raphael Bates and Jessica Chester.

The show on 25 July will be Auslan interpreted, underscoring Northpine Christian College’s commitment to inclusivity.
